CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP

SCAIR partners with PEN Center USA to provide creative writing workshops for SCAIR Participants.

Through PEN Center’s “Pen in the Classroom” Program, Participants take part in a 10-week community writing residency at SCAIR. At the end of the residency, Participants submit their completed writings, which are then compiled into a published anthology of their work. A final reading event is held to celebrate and honor the writers who contribute their work.

In the summer of 2013, Participants took part in a second writing workshop and completion of a new anthology, titling the book, “Women of the Round Dance.” A reading was held in the SCAIR Resource Center in January of 2014.

The original anthology, “Strong Medicine,” was completed in summer of 2011. A final reading was held at the Barona Resort and Casino in December of the same year. To view the video regarding “Strong Medicine” please click here.
